On January 1, 2009, Westbrook Housing officially implemented a no-smoking policy at all of their public housing properties. This policy states that smoking is prohibited anywhere in a resident's apartment, the building, including common areas or on exterior grounds within 25 feet of the building, including doorways, windows and balconies and any common entrances.
Smoking is allowed only at distances of 25 feet or more away from the building; or, in any designated area assigned by Westbrook Housing.
Residents are are responsible for ensuring that their family members, guests and invitees also comply fully with this requirement.
